The feminist movement is once more on the roll with a new angle. This time we are all introduced to the awakening of the rights of the fictional woman. But, should really rights be reserved for the (real life) non-existing female characters? The feminist movement in Japan who is also working with the Japanese government seems to think so.
This move is definitely, without an question a new one from the feminists parties to benefit them in their agenda to rid the world of anything remotely close to the so called “danger” of Japanese eroge themes.
A series of documents were released into the media explaining the reason behind their new take on the issue.
Media depictions of sexual violence against women constitute a violation of the human rights of women, and are a major obstacle to the creation of a gender-equal society.
[…]
Where violent or sexual media depictions of women are concerned, we must promote public understanding of this as a “human rights violation,” and ensure media are subjected to voluntary restraints.
[…]
Voluntary censorship of media depictions of sexual violence should be promoted, and laws including censorship of virtual sexual violence against women in DVDs, video and PC games should be considered.
As seen above, the document is pretty clear on the subject, which basically is that the two types of women must be revered as same, thus making the laws for these two dimensional women same as three dimensional women.
However you choose to side on this issue, the main concern still remains. The rights of freedom of speech/expression, which seems to have become further and further popular to silence now a days.
Isn’t that one of the man given rights too? To be able to express ones artistic side without much restrictions? If women and children were suddenly to be given same rights in the 2D realm as in the 3D, then the trend would transcend over to every and anything with the same view, thus eliminating any market growth with having a huge offering of the same material consisting of nothing more than “colorless” content.
It’s quite the irony to use “human rights” to rob humans of their own god given rights.
