The old ways, were uncensored, with a lot of wild fantasies of the erotic nature put into them, not so different from some of todays version, where the mere limitations of before has been broken with a new genre, guro and a whole new world of ero-manga was developed for every gender.
The artform is known as 春画 / shunga, which in Japanese terms means “erotic pictures”, and originally originated from China, the Muromachi era (1336 to 1573). The great T’ang Dynasty Chinese erotic painter is thought to be one of the many influentaled by this artform, as he and many others many times exaggerated the male member, seen above.
