Sony Reveals Next Generation PSP

Sony has been revealing that they will be releasing their PSP2 or NGP (Next Generation Portable) as it is referred to for now. Just in time to duke it out with Nintendo’s latest accomplish the 3DS, for the ultimate victory.

As seen from the image preview it has been granted a range of external face lifts. But apart from the obvious two analog-joystick feature, NGP also offers a 5 inch 960×544 “high resolution” display, 3G, wifi, GPS, USB, touch panel (in the back) as well as a fully fledged touch screen, all in one package.

The system itself has been “boosted” to the level where it is compared to the PS3 (PSP was so with the PS2), but that would most likely be a overstatement if not an entirely oblivious fact made by many considering the handheld unite would suffer in the battery department and has said to be doing so by only lasting about 4-5h of game play.

No talk about the backward compatibility has been so far mentioned, but the life frame of PSP has apparently been extended by Sony via an introduction of an so called “PSP to Android emulator”. No such has however been seen or heard for Apples iPhone/iPad hardware as of yet.

The product is said to be launching Christmas of 2011.
