No More School Uniforms

The force that is constantly on the run to change the industry for the worse, has now announced that no more School related settings will be print-able.

The mangaka Shouko Takaku have already reported that although being completely new, the ban handled in Tokyo has already left her BL-work troubled as the publisher is refusing her to publish her work as long as the settings involves schools or even anything remotely close to it, such as school uniforms.

I was bluntly told the other day “because of the Tokyo ordinance, please stop using high school students [in your manga].” Depending on the label it seems you can’t even draw school uniforms…”

[...]

Yes, I was really shocked – I was astonished and responded “Really? Really? It’s come to that now already?”

Of course this just confirms hers and others beliefs that the industry will only be hurt further to demise by such moves that Tokyo has recently been taking in order to please exterior entities.

But the coming releases aren’t the only ones being hurt as another BL mangaka (Kanako Meiji) has reported that her publishers are considering to even cancel reprints of her older works that are already on the market.

What’s going to happen? A new edition of one of my titles was due to be published in April, but now it’s under deliberation. It has lots of sex and minors. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s cancelled.

This ill mannered fate to the nations anime, manga and game-categories comes at a high price as the more and more “rules” are enforced to silence the art form they have supported over years, the lesser appeal it will ultimately have in the end. What is even more surprising is that the rules are there to be looked as strict laws which aren’t even enforced through officials means.
