Nintendo have been trying hard at their cause, and Sony, while they do have the most successful console of this generation that could hold out the longest, the time may near. No matter how strong the force against it may be, Piracy is still going strong, and the DS seems to be having tough luck getting rid of it.
According to Japan’s Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association, the top titles for illegal downloads are…:
1. Pokémon Platinum (2,071,006 downloads)
2. Pokémon Diamond (1,862,899 downloads)
3. Dragon Quest IX (1,551,085 downloads)
4. Mario Party DS (1,470,231 downloads)
5. New Super Mario Brothers (1,455,577 downloads)
6. Mario Kart (1,447,781 downloads)
7. Pokémon SoulSilver (1,129,469 download)
These are just the top 7 downloads, but CESA estimates that the damage handed by the top 20 are alone ¥86 billion ($941 million), giving us clearer the reasoning power behind Nintendo’s unimaginable struggle against piracy on the DS.
