A study conducted by the Japanese National PTA Congress, shows that 2.5% of Japanese fifth grade pupils often play adult games. These studies have been conducted with a statistically valid sample of 9600 children, 75% of those responses were obtained.
The intention behind this survey, was to find out the playing habits amongst children, 30% of those revealed that 30% often played games within the genre, Action and RPG. Only 4.8% of the fifth graders did not own their own gaming device. A little over 50% of the 13 year olds said they used mobile phone to mail at night, and another 16% claimed they mail more than 50 times a day.
This claim can itself be questionable, as the original wording says, “性的表現があるアダルトゲーム”, adult games featuring sexual expressions/representations, the word “hyougen” might mean either, and might just be taken to mean games including reference to sex.
While many might be thinking this is too early for anyone, their mind back then were probably not so different from todays youth, many might even recall becoming extraordinarily “healthy” at around that age.
