“Japan Must Ban Adult Games”

The feminist “Human Rights” group, Equality Now, based in the US is now demanding that the Japanese government ban all adult games, which does include Manga and Anime onto the list.

Apparently they feel it somehow “promotes violence against women”, and the non-human rights of women, thanks to materials with themes such as rape and lolicon.

This is all due to a game (Rapelay) released in 2006 which they found out were being sold in UK and US, containing a fantasy scenario in which the player can sexually enslave a mother and her daughter, in order to impregnating them, and if necessary abortions afterwards.

“Japanese companies are making massive profits from an industry based on violence towards women and girls, and ‘lolicon’ child pornography is becoming a huge market.

Why doesn’t the Japanese government step in to ban the distribution of products promoting rape?”

The game didn’t do much of an impact in it’s home turf, Japan, doing fairly good, but has found several distributors transporting it overseas, and thus made available in the UK and US.

This has boiled the feminist group to the edge, and now wish not only to have the west get rid of these sort of games, but also inflict it’s views onto Japan. The group has gone further, claiming Japan being a country of which were women are left powerless and by the perverted male population.

Equality Now, is currently attempting to mobilize it’s some 30,000, members to put some pressure onto the Japanese government to strictly introduce censorship, with one of the methods being to have their members bombard public officials and private individuals with angry letters.

It does not end there however, as they have released an text in English, reviewing the perverted parts of the games before hand then ending with, that Japan has an obligation to ban these sort of materials according to the UN anti-discrimination law.

Further, they have taken the time to also mention a few developers, distributors, Japanese politicians and harass them.

To which the publisher of Rapelay tells:

“This product is intended for domestic distribution and was approved by Japanese regulators. We won’t accept this sort of criticism from overseas groups.”
