The mastermind behind the previous iPhone products unlocking and jailbreaking, has now what it seems like seized to operate on the Playstation 3′s hacking from what looks like to be defeat.
George Hotz or what he usually goes by when online, Geohotz has for some time now contributed to the community of hackers on the Apple iPhone, with success of jailbreaking the previous hardware and it’s upgrades. The jailbreaking community did not leave this unnoticed and contributed in various way to give Geohotz the fame he deserved, that is until the very same fame began withering due to shaken foundational truths.
Geohotz began his next mission in the hacking community by trying to figure out how to disable or even bypass the security system on the Playstation 3 as a way to spend time, and once more show his genius in the act. Yet, the more he ventured into the dept of Sony’s now half a life cycle console, it became more clear that the challenge was too great and what Sony’s engineer did to increase the security was not something which was going to possibly be crackable for ten more years.
In what seems to be like a shameful defeat, Geohotz now retired entirely from the Playstation 3 hacking scene with only a simple message left behind on his now closed down blog page:
“It was a cool ride, and I’ve learned a lot about a lot. Perhaps one of these days I’ll do a more formal goodbye.”
Not much of an explanation given to the loyal followers of Geohotz progress who were expecting more than this, but all has not been fine and dandy as just a couple of weeks ago Geohotz made himself go down a notch by the wrong type of public exposure. It would seem that in an attempt for some reason to gain back his long beloved admiration and respect from people far and beyond, Geohotz retried to rekindle that love by leaving a false message of hope by claiming he had hacked Apple’s iPhone 4G.
This experience seems to have awaken some conscious surrounding his involved in the hacking community:
I didn’t fully realize most of the current scene don’t care unless they are getting something. Now I do. It’s late tonight, I’ll think about what to do about this in the morning.
The real reason behind no release isn’t technical. It’s just that it will never stop, after blackra1n, people demand unlock, after blacksn0w, people demand untethered. I miss the days when jailbreaking and unlocking were difficult, it attracted a much higher caliber crowd.
Also, to the haters, the picture is quite obviously fake.
