Ugly yet cute, is there a word for it? Apparently there is in the Japanese lexicon of fashion and fetishes, they call it Busu-Kawaii, the literate translation of the word is “ugly-cute”.
In case you weren’t aware of it yet, busaiku means ugly, but to describe something really hideously malformed, so ugly they deserve to die an instant death, busu is used quite often. The word does now co-exist with the already previously made well known, “kimo-kawaii” (creepy-cute) and “ero-kawaii” (ero-cute).
