Whilst the numbers of reproduction for the purpose of making babies are lowering in numbers, so are the chances of allowing the undergoing process which allows birth. In a recent statistical showcase it has been enclosed that 1 out of every 6 Japanese woman have at one time or another had an abortion.
The study which was made by Japan Family Planning Association and then later published by Ministry of Health, has revealed that 15.5% of 16 to 49-year old Japanese women had at least once or several times undergone the termination process.
Another study made in 2008 showed that 14.9% had abortions and 25.4% of those have had it more than just once.
When asked why, 27.4% said “I couldn’t have the child as I’m not married to the father”, 13.3% “had no economic interest in having a child,” 11.9% “couldn’t trace out a future with the father” and 7.4% “didn’t want to quit work or education.”
Abortion which is entirely illegal in Japan has found itself surviving through a loophole which renders the law against it useless. If one where to simply want an abortion, one would simply have to convince the doctor that there are hardships in their life which sets the bar of raising a child next to impossible.
